Love in the Purest Form

Love in the Purest Form

I just love, love; don’t you? I mean, who wouldn’t? The warm fuzzy feeling you get when you really start to fall for someone. The tried and true love of married couples that have been together for decades. The giddy childlike love we have for spending quality time with our besties. And perhaps most distinct of all, that all encompassing and instinctual love a mother has for her children. Love is beautiful.

Love is so great in fact, it has its own holiday! And in honor of that day being on the horizon, I thought it might be fitting to pay homage to the creator of love….and no, I’m not talking about Cupid honey.

The Creator of Love

Like most things in this world, love has a beginning, a creator. And like all created things in this world all beginnings lead back to God. Love is no small matter to God either. It’s the driving force for all of creation and it’s mentioned well over 300 times in the Bible. Love is not just a springboard for our creation but it’s the catalyst for our redemption as well. It’s the reason that the Word became flesh (Jesus) and paid the price for the sins of the whole world. They say love makes you do crazy things!

Loving Out Loud

God is not quiet about his love for his people. He makes it clear all throughout the New and Old Testament that he cares deeply for us. Here are just a few examples:

  • “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”-Romans 5:8
  • “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”-Jeremiah 31:3
  • Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.-Isaiah 54:10
  • “We love because he first loved us.”- 1 John 4:19
  • Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.-1 John 4:7-8

So, as we celebrate the upcoming day of love, let us not just be intentional about showing love to one another; but let us remember the one who created it; the one who is LOVE.

I invite you to join me as I unpack the pruning God allows to take place in the seemingly mundane and the beautiful testimony of every test faced as a wife and mother.

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” -Proverbs 31:30
